Now that the initial launch hype has calmed what are the punters saying about the iPhone.
While initial sales were below analyst predictions a respectable 270K units were sold in 30 hours to from launch to the end of Apples third qtr. That has now translated to 1 million units sold as of early September.
I had the pleasure of playing with one via a friend and was suitably impressed with the interface and ease of use. It now appears that there are several hacks to unlock the phone from AT&T and grey market IPhones have started showing up in other markets, I may still wait for the 3G version.
Apple has since dropped the price by one third in the ramp up to the Xmas sales season and given some previous customers a credit who missed out on the price drop.
Along with the price change a new range of iPods were announced including the iPod Touch which uses many of the features in the iPhone including wiFi access and web browsing
I will be interested to see who cracks the iTouch with a skype client, which may make the need for an iPhone obsolete in those markets with good hot spot access, where it is yet to launch.
Technology has a wonderful way of creeping into unintended areas.
